How?

We live in the best nation in the world, the United States of America. Our nation represents Freedom. One of the greatest documents ever written was created to protect each of us, to give us rights, and to ensure that we will never be denied freedom. Our soldiers risk their lives fighting in foreign places to protect our freedom and to help bring freedom to others. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS WHY THE HELL CAN'T OUR OWN JUSTICE SYSTEM, THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD, UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION AND PROTECT ITS OWN CITIZENS?

I understand that perfection is not realistic. I understand that mistakes will be made. Men and women who are innocent will be convicted of a crimes. Men and women who are guilty will go unpunished for their crimes. That is life. There will always be room for human error. HOWEVER, WHEN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM DELIBERATELY DENIES THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF MEN AND WOMEN EVERY SINGLE DAY SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG.

WHY IN 2010, IN OHIO, IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IS THERE AN AMERICAN MAN ON DEATH ROW, SCHEDULED TO BE KILLED EARLY SEPTEMBER 2010, WHO WAS CONVICTED ON A FALSE TESTIMONY BY A WITNESS WHO DOES NOT EXIST? HOW CAN WE AS A PEOPLE PUT ANY AMERICAN TO DEATH WITHOUT INTENSE AND THOROUGH REVIEW OF HIS/HER CASE?

Here is the link for the story of Kevin Keith, copy and paste it into your browser because I cannot insert it correctly: http://criminaljustice.change.org/blog/view/tell_ohio_gov_strickland_dont_execute_an_innocent_man

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION

I do not know this man, Kevin Keith, I simply came across his story on an awesome website called Change.org. Anyhow, my heart breaks for this man and his family, and I am outraged. I felt that I had to share it with you. How can we put people to death in this country without truly knowing that they are 110 percent guilty, with every last loophole in the case reviewed over and over again??? How can we allow this blood on our hands? THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. This man is someone's friend, someone's Daddy, someone's love, someone's son. How would any of you feel if this was happening to you, or to someone that you love?

I am so angry at America, maybe I am wrong for feeling this way, but I wish people would open their eyes. WE NEED CHANGE! WE NEED CHANGE! WE NEED CHANGE! How many times can I say it? Our justice system is broken. The more we allow the government to take away the rights of our brothers and sisters in OUR home, OUR GREAT nation; the more we are at risk for losing our own rights. THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY. THESE ARE YOUR PEOPLE.

I mean does it not shock and anger you that my father is being denied a speedy trial?? It should. I can understand how it may seem like a "whatever there's nothing we can do" type of situation, or "whatever other people have worse problems"... But this is one of our specific rights in the constitution and it is being DELIBERATELY and OPENLY denied. How many men and women are being denied this right? How many men and women in our justice system are being deliberately denied religious freedom? How many men and women are being denied the right to freedom of speech? This list goes on and on. Who gave the government the right to just basically say you know what this no longer applies, and neither does this, or this. WHO? THE AUDACITY OF OUR GOVERNMENT TO OUTRIGHT DENY THE BASIC FREEDOMS IN THE CONSTITUTION IN 2010? AND WE'RE GOING TO STAND FOR IT? WHO DECIDES WHEN IT IS ENOUGH OR HOW FAR TO GO OR WHICH RIGHTS ARE APPLIED TO WHO? THIS BEHAVIOR SHOULD FRIGHTEN ALL OF US. THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IS SPITTING ON OUR CONSTITUTION.

A small tear will eventually become a gaping hole unless it is repaired. What is going on in the justice systems across our nation is NOT AMERICA. WAKE UP!

INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE. - MLK

Please, we really need change.

I signed the petition for you, there is another I cannot remember the name of the 5 kids that are also convicted of crimes they almost surely did not comet. I agree we need change, I just have yet to find anyone in government or politics that seems to know what the right changes are. There should never be a time where someone has to sit in jail in this country while the prosecutors spend years trying to build there case. If your case was not built already, where is the justification for the arrest? I hope when your father is finally released he is able to repay a little grief to them in civil court.
The media should never be allowed to report on anything other than facts, the conjecture of your local media is borderline criminal if you ask me, at the very least it is irresponsible journalism. If only the facts had been reported to this point I do not believe there are many people who would agree that Tommy deserves to be in the position he has been put in by our seemingly obtuse government officials.
